For some time now, a strange little cordophone has been conquering Europe and the world. His name is ukulele. From Herman Düne to Cocoon, through Julien Doré, this small 4-string instrument is gaining followers and this is not a coincidence.
The origins of the ukulele are identified:
August 23, 1879, a Portuguese ship called “Ravenscrag” landed at Honolulu. On board, approximately four hundred Portuguese immigrants from the island of Madeira. They came to work in the exploitation of sugar cane, but they also brought an instrument that affected the indigenous immediately: the cavaquinho, i.e. a small Portuguese guitar with four strings.
